My elderly relative is a nonUK resident/taxpayer. They have sold a property in the UK and have asked me to organise filing for CGT. But they have lost the property valuation they had done in 2015, through a house move and cognitive decline. Is there a reliable source of historic property values that would be accepted by HMRC? Obviously I want to sort this out asap and don’t want them to end up with a bill for misleading HMRC! Thank you

Hi,

HMRC do not hold this type of information. You may need to contact the original provider of the valuation as they may be able to provide a duplicate valuation.

Your relative may also choose to obtain another valuation.

Thank you.
