Hi, I own some shares in a GIA account. I would like to gift ownership of these shares to my spouse, after which I will sell them on her behalf in my GIA account so she can use her CGT allowance on the capital gains incurred. Could you confirm that this is appropriate, and how do I report this gifting of ownership to HMRC? Thanks!

Hi,
You will need to provide details in writing to show the date they were transferred and the company and number of shares.
Thankyou.
