I inherited my parental home in Germany which has already been in my name since 1990, but my parents had the right to live in. Under German inheritance law I did not have to pay any inheritance tax . I sold the house and now wonder if I have to pay capital gains tax, even if all the proceeds of the house sale went to my husband in order to reach a financial settlement in our divorce. Grateful for any advice.

Hi,
If the property was not your main residence then you will likely be subject to Capital Gains Tax.
