Hi I had a small amount of shares in a company I had worked for over 30yrs. The company was sold and payment of the shares was over a 3 year period. There was a bonus to be paid if we made our target (we did) Due to this we had to estimate what we might end up with. The bonus was paid to me in May 2024. As we under estimated the CGT there is a surplus to pay. Can I exactly pay this in my 23/24 returns? Basically I've taken early retirement and just want this tax payment off my chest rather than wait for the new tax year to start?

Hi msrangers,
Yes you can.
Please make sure you do not ask for a repayment when filing the 23/24 tax return as this will just pay it back to you.
The credit can stay there until you then file the 24/25 tax return.
Thank you.
