I have recently proposed a suggestion for a new salary sacrifice scheme to my employer, however, they have advised that the only schemes currently available are those approved by HMRC. With that in mind, is it possible for my employer to propose a new scheme to HMRC on the basis that it complies with HMRC rules for operating a salary sacrifice scheme and there is sufficient interest in the scheme to make it viable. thanks

Hi,

As long as a salary sacrifice is operated effectively the employer does not need to have it "approved" by HMRC.

Thank you.
