I am an employee, with an electric car provided for business. I have personal use. The majority of miles are work. I had to pay for a home charger to use the car, there is no business provided charging at the majority of their sites I work at. Is it permitted to claim tax relief on the charger and install costs I have had to pay?

Hi,

As your employer provided the car, they should also reimburse the costs of installing the charger.

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. As they do not, where do I stand on the question?

Hi,

You will need to work out the correct split against private and business use. Once done you apply this to the cost of installation to claim relief on the business portion.

Thank you.
