After sorting out some original issues with EORI (due to address issue which meant our original request was unsuccessful) we were then successful and got the reply from HMRC on 20/9/22 that they were processing the CDS request which would take up to 5 working days when we would get an email. We still have not received an email and despite trying different hmrc phone lines (HMRC, Customs & International Trade) for very long periods and using suggested emails and contacts (EORI team, traders scheme) we have not been able to get any resolution at all. We are a multimillion pound business with a UK presence and employment for decades, but we must be able to import, and this business is being put at existential risk if we cannot. Why have we not received the promised email in the time indicated? Why is no one able to successfully help with chasing this up and resolving it?

We feel your pain - we are living in hope with a 200kg shipment due early next week. Extension for CHIEF granted for the correct EORI, and CDS subscription in place for an older EORI.. In desperation, I've contacted our MP for help. Have spent more than 50 hours contacting a number of depts at HMRC by phone, email and chat - no one can resolve the issue. Its a tough time for importers, exchange rate and this too, amongst over challenges. I have a large shipment arriving early next week - I'm very very nervous.

@HMRC Admin 25, That solution does not work. When you do that, the website technical team just emails you back and tells you to email ISBC.eoricontact@hmrc.gov.uk. When you then email the ISBC email address nobody answers. Can you please give us a solution that actually works or direct us to a team that can actually solve the issue? This is not a small or niche problem- there must be 1000s of UK businesses facing the same issue of having 2 EORI numbers, as its very common (and logical) not to register for VAT until you pass the threshold. Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks HMRC for stating the very obvious! Our previous message clearly states where we are with all this. We cannot subscribe with a new EORI, we have an extension already granted. And for info, the link you refer to leads to the technical team who state it is not a technical issue. Now, we will just stop wasting valuable business time and try and run our business without the support of HMRC which we expected. We are not employees, we are business owners. Its a different world

We have now been told today by the eoricontact team that we are subscribed to CDS since 21/09/22. We received no email from HMRC at the time or since to this effect. However, nothing is visible for CDS on our government gateway, we can not access the financial dashboard. Of course all the other taxes are visible on our government gateway as usual, so that is not the problem.

This error is displayed when you are using the wrong login details to access the Customs Declaration Service. (CDS) or your EORI has already been subscribed to another account.
Please use the User ID and Password you created when you subscribed to CDS.
You may need to speak with colleagues to find out who has subscribed on behalf of your company.
If you are unable to locate the correct login details you should contact the Online Services Helpdesk:
Technical support with HMRC online services                                                                                                                       
They will be able to complete security and assist you in recovering these.

I am finding this (if it wasn't having such a terrible affect on our all businesses) almost laughable now. There must be 100's of businesses now affected by this. Here we are in October and no resolution. Telling us to report the issue to the CDS team, click 'this page is not working' and directing us to an email address of a team who don't respond (and have no phone number) isn't getting any of us anywhere. HMRC - please please get a resolution to this. I have £000's of trees waiting to come in to the country and a disaster ahead if I can't get this sorted out. Surely someone must know how to fix this - can't be that complicated to remove an EORI number from someone's government gateway / NI / UTR number. It'll be an entry in a database that is causing all this misery and wasted time. Next going to try my MP, I literally have no-where else to try and am desperate.
