Hi We have got an import from UAE to the UK, goods which we are importing are of CH origin. We have got OEM document stating country of origin as Switzerland. How do we apply zero rate tariff preference on this import on basis of country of origin? Thanks

Hi If you consign goods of Swiss origin from the UAE to the UK they will almost certainly be subject to the ‘all country ‘ duty rates. Zero duty rates are only for goods of Swiss ,’preferential origin’ . That is goods that meet the product specific origin criteria set out in the agreement. The agreement between the UK and Switzerland also requires that the goods are directly transported from Switzerland to the UK. Evidence of preferential origin must be in the form of an EUR 1 certificate or statement on origin issued by an authorised exporter. If the necessary proof of origin and direct transport conditions are met the zero duty is claimed by using specific coding on the customs declaration.
