I may plan to move abroad if I do so would it be possible to complete the sale after I have moved and not incur CGT if this were to be completed within 6 months of moving abroad?

Hi

If you sell within 9 months of moving and the property was your only and main residence then it is unlikley that any CTGT would be due.
You still need to rpeort the sale as a non resident.

Thank you

Would I have to report the sale as a non-resident as soon as I leave or if I have left more than 6 months in the tax year? Many thanks

Hi njc23,

Sale of UK residential property must be reported and any CGT paid within 60 days of the sale
Report and pay your Capital Gains Tax

Thank you.
