We'd getting a divorce, I moved from the family home into a rental property owned by my wife approx 12 months ago. I pay her the cost of the monthly mortgage payment whilst we divide our assets. There isn't a tenancy agreement between us and the potential loss of tax and expenses relief isn't a consideration. What are her tax liabilities where the rental property is concerned? Thank you.

Hi,
Based on the information provided, we would be unable to give an in-depth response unfortunately.
If we have the information correct, as no rent is paid to your wife and you pay the monthly mortgage payments on behalf of your wife, then this would not be claimable as an expense on her record as she has not incurred the expense, as well as no rental income received.
Thankyou
