Whilst filling out my tax return for 22-23 I got a red box alert that the rental expenses that I'd entered were too high for the income that I'd received. I continued with the return and the information that I entered for expenses has been included in the return. I'd value any advice as to why the red box and message came up and what I should do next please. (The rental expenses are less than the rental income, I have saved but not submitted the return) thanks

Hi
Thank you for your question.
If you have actually calulated a IFP profit as expenses are less than income rents received this may be a entry glitch.
Id suggest you called HMRC and ask a tax technician to walk through the tax return emulator (OTRSA) with you as you finalise it.
Failing that, a manual tax return may be advised.
