I left the UK at end of Sep 2023. I have been filing my tax return (for a Portugal-based property) forthe last 10 years and continued to do so even after I had left. I submitted my p85 only in November 2024. I am now working and residing outside the UK and Europe. Do I still need to file a self assessment for that property ? One HMRC employee told me one year ago on the phone that I still have which I found to be very strange (as it implies I am still a tax resident of the UK which I am not!) I emailed HMRC to clarify but they have not got back to me. The deadline to file is 31st of January. I am afraid of encuring penalties. Could anyone provide a final answer? If HMRC is reading this post I would appreciate if they could get in touch. Loads of thx
