My sister and I have inherited a property from our mother after she passed away and this had an existing mortgage just over 100k remaining. We've been going through a slightly painful and long winded process to get it transferred into our names and remortgaged as the previous mortgage lender would not transfer the existing mortgage over. Our solicitors have told us that we need to pay SDLT in this circumstance and I would like some advice on if this is true please?
