I worked in the UK and shortly before leaving to work in France I was on job seekers allowance (back in 1998) I meet all the criteria of Woking more than 3 years in the UK and overseas. But does the unemployment (2 months) immediately before leaving disqualify me from making Class 2 contributions? Simon

Hi,
Claiming unemployment benefits will be taken into consideration when your application is processed, therefore this would not automatically disqualify you from being eligible to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions at the class 2 rate.
Thank you.
