Dear HMRC, I would like to pay by Voluntary Insurance Contribution as i live abroad, based on the letter that I received from HRMC (after i filled out the CF83 form). Before that I went to check my record on *Your UK National Insurance record * and noticed that the amount that i should pay was completely different. I shall add that in the first instance I applied for class 3 but later after checking again i resubmitted application for class 2 and I received the new letter with class 2 value that I should pay. However, my records look to be incorrect and not updated. Can you please let me know what shall i do in this situation as I would like to have correct records before paying the outstanding amount of NIC? I would like to limit any possible issues later. Regards,

Hi,
The amounts shown in the response to your CF83 application will be the correct amounts to pay.
Your online National Insurance contributions record will always show any shortfalls at the voluntary class 3, this does not get updated when you have been accepted at the voluntary class 2 rate.
Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like you have been accepted to pay at the class 2 rate.
Thank you.
