Hi, I am wanting to pay voluntary Class 2 NI contributions for tax years 2019/20 through to 2023/24. Up until tax year 2023/24, I earnt under the £1,000 threshold, so haven't had to register as self-employed. However, I did earn over the threshold in the last tax year, so have now registered as self-employed, so I can send a self-assessment form. I have already been informed that I can contact the NI Enquiries Helpline to pay backdated contributions, but I was wondering how to pay the 2023/24 contribution. Do I have to do it through the self-assessment form, or can I just contact the NI Helpline and pay all 5 tax years in one go? Many thanks for your help, Kerry

Hi,
You can pay through your self-assessment account for the 2023-2024 tax year.
Depending on how much you earn, this will either be calculated automatically for you when you complete your self-assessment, or you can opt to pay voluntarily if your earnings were below the Small Profits Threshold.
Further information can be found here - Pay Class 2 National Insurance if you do not pay through Self Assessment
Thank you.
