Why is my N.I. record for 2021/2022 missing, both on website and on letter regarding Voluntary Payments?
Posted Thu, 27 Apr 2023 14:33:11 GMT by HMRC Admin 20
Hi Chatz15 Rayner,

The 2021-2022 tax year will only be visible from 6th April 2023 this is because the information shows in arrears.
If you checked your PTA after this date then you will have to notify us in writing so our caseworkers can investigate.
If your shortfall letter was issued prior to this date then it will not include the 2021-2022 tax year.

Thank you.

Hi, my letter was sent 18 April, and I was advised on the phone that it WOULD show 21/22 but it doesn't. That year is also STILL not showing on the HMRC website, 27 April ???

Hi Chatz15 Rayner,

I am sorry that you currently are unable to see Voluntary National Insurance contributions paid to your record.
We have recently had a high volume of payments from Customers making Voluntary Payments to enhance their State Pension with the extension to the 31 July 2023.
If you have made a payment for 2021-2022 and this is not on your National Insurance account I can confirm we are currently in the process of working the cases in relation to updating customers accounts with the payments made.
Unfortunately, I am unable to provide further information without looking at your National Insurance record.
You can call the National Insurance Helpline on 03002003500 who are open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, they will then be able to look at your record and advise accordingly.

Thank you.

You have misread my enquiry. I have not yet paid voluntary contributions, I am trying to calculate a top up of N.I. contributions but 2021/22 is missing from my records. It shld be a partially full year so I need to know the figures to allow voluntary payment before July 2023 as other top up years are prior to 2016.

Hi Chatz15,

I am unable to provide the information you are requesting without accessing your National Insurance Account.
As previously advised you will have to contact the National Insurance helpline, they will take the details required to access the National Insurance account.
The National Insurance Agent will then be able to see what Class of Voluntary National Insurance contributions you can pay and how many weeks you are short for a qualifying year.
I would advise you speak to the Future Pension Centre on 08007310175, office hours 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, they will tell you if payment of 2021-2022 will enhance your State Pension and how much can be paid in Voluntary Class 3 National Insurance contributions, however you will still need to speak to the National Insurance helpline for a reference number and the bank details to make your payment to.
Please understand we can not provide the information you require via email.

Thank you.

My national insurance record for 2021/22 has still not been updated.

Hi I moved to UK since Oct 2021 and I have been employed since Oct 2021, and tax and National Insurance were deducted from my salary accordingly. Why HMRC records shown 'no NI contribution' in 2021/2022, and no record of my tax payment in 2021/2022? and no record of me being employed?

Hi Suk201708 Fok,
To enable us to trace any missing National Insurance contributions for the 2021-2022 tax year, please send us a copy of either your P60 or final payslip for this tax year.
We will then be able to trace the contributions and record them to your National Insurance account.
Our postal address is:
HM Revenue & Customs, PT Operations North East England BX9 1AN.
Thank you.

Same situation here. I moved to the UK December 2020 and I have been employed since then. No records of my employment from December 2020 to August 2023. I sent a couple of letters with my P60s one month ago but still nothing in my records. How long can it take for HMRC to process it?

Hi lauramc,

Our Team that process missing class 1 National Insurance contributions are currently dealing with queries received in January 2023 so unfortunately, there will be a delay before they appear on your National Insurance account.
If you have access to your Personal Tax Account (PTA) you could keep checking to see if they are recorded.  If you don’t have a PTA you can set one up via Personal tax account: sign in or set up.
You may wish to call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 to ensure that we have received your letter and P60s and they will be able to give you a more accurate timescale for a reply.

Thank you.
