Hi All, I’m a UK resident since 2002. I left my UK job on 1st of April 2022 to go travelling until September. During this time I worked in the USA on a seasonal job from 16th May to July 23rd. I am a US citizen, and I was taxed on this income before it entered my account. I started a new PAYE job on 15th September 2022 in the UK. I need to compile the new starter checklist for this new employer (instead of a P45) and am unsure if I need to select statement A (that I’ve had no job since 6th April) or Statement B (that I’ve had a job since 6th of April) as it is unclear if the statement applies to just UK based jobs or all international jobs. I would also like to ask: what are the implications of my foreign income on my tax free allowance for 2022-2023 also? Would you please be able to advise? Many thanks in advance

Hi,

You will not count the USA employment as part of the start checklist so it will be statement A.

With regards to the income received in the USA, please refer to guidance at :

Tax on foreign income   .

Thank you.
