I made a voluntary back payment online on 17th Feb (I am a UK citizen residing in the Republic of Ireland). I understand it can take some time for this back payment to show on my account. In the interim, is there any way of confirming that my payment has been received? It is a large sum of money and while my bank in Ireland confirms the payment has been made, I need HMRC to confirm they have received the money. Can you at least do this? I have tried to phone but have been unable to get through.

Hi Natasha Alekseeva,

Please be advised our banking team do not issue receipts of payments unless they have been requested in writing.

This is due to the volumes of payments received each day.

You can put your request in writing with all payment information and we can then advise the date the payment was received.

Alternatively you can keep trying to contact the NI helpline to obtain verbal confirmation.

I am sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced we are experiencing higher call volumes at present and our lines are open from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.

Thank you.
