1256L tax code

Hello, My colleague does not pay any tax on her weekly income since October 2022. She has worked full time since June 2022, for an agency at first, but in October she was given a contract from the company she works for. Since then she is not being charged any tax - her tax code is 1256L. Should she contact HMRC to clarify it? Thank you.

Hi,

She may not have reached the tax threshold so far this year. We are currently 9 months into the tax year which means you can earn £9427 tax free so far.
