Pension received by Spouse of deceased NHS employee

Hi Could you please let me know if the pension received by an NHS employee (after a Grant is issued) died due to sickness is to be declared in the spouse's tax return and is taxable? The employee died while working for NHS . Any lump sum received is taxable or not? should we declare the lump sum as well?
