I submitted postal evidence to support a claim for refund of tax on my pension tax in June this year, for the year 2021-2022. (I do this every year). It was marked received on my online account on 11 July, and estimated completion time was 01 Aug. That has come and gone with no update. I've called HMRC a couple times since and the advisers tell me they cannot advise on an estimated completion time. They said they have "flagged it for investigation" (not exactly what they said, but similar terminology). I ended up raising a complaint about how long this was taking in October. This was marked received on 27 Oct, with estimated completion date of 17 Nov. Again that has come and gone. Does anyone have insight into why there are such delays? In past years my similar claims have been resolved promptly. I am due back a fair amount and would obviously like it as soon as possible - is there anything I can do to my end to speed this up, or am I a bit powerless?
