If you are a self-employed sole trader living in italy as a resident of Italy but working freelance for a UK company remotely for work taking place in the UK, do you have to pay UK tax or would all income be taxed in Italy? According to the tax self check I am not a UK resident for tax reasons but says in the small print that system is not official and needs another check.

Hello. I am an Italian working in the UK with a Settled status. My job has offered me to do a 3 month placement in the italian branch of the company. I am wondering what that would look like tax/legislation wise. Am I allowed to keep the UK income and tax as I would only be working aboard for 3 months? Would there be any issues with the right to work in Italy? Thanks.

Hi Gaia,
Provided article 15(2) of the UK/ Italy tax treaty (UK/ITALY DOUBLE TAXATION CONVENTION) applies to your circumstance, your UK earnings with this employer would remain taxable in the UK.
Thank you.
