Hello, I am trying to arrange buildings insurance on a house gifted to me and my brother by our parents. I do not live in the house (only my mum lives there now) but it is mine and brothers name on the land registry. Am I classed as a landlord? Mum pays us no rent and we have no rights on the property unless she provides written consent to sell or passes away. I’m finding it more difficult each year to arrange the insurance so wondered whether I can class myself as a landlord?

Hi Emily,
No as it is not a rental property.
Thank you.
