Are commuting expenses from my home in Northern Ireland to my employer's workplace in London deductible for tax? Am there on average 3 days every other week and otherwise working from home. I understand commuting expenses are not normally tax deductible but am unsure if this is treated differently as i) the distance is much more than the 10 miles considered ordinary commuting, and ii) the ratio of my time spent in the office is around 30%. Many thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi,

This is not a temporary workplace and is still classed as travel to your workplace and is not allowable. You may wish to speak to your employer for claiming travel costs.

Thank you.
