Hi everyone! My master's program is coming to an end and I will be moving back to my home country for 6-8 months. I'll be running a freelance business while I'm there and very likely receiving payments through my UK PayPal/Wise account (because I had the misfortune of being born in a third world country where there is no PayPal). Will I need to pay tax on this income to HMRC, or just to the government in my home country? I'm currently in the UK on a student visa, which makes me a tax resident here, and I know I can’t be self-employed while I’m in the UK. However, when I go back to my home country, the visa restrictions don’t apply. If I start freelancing after going back to my home country and receive payments into my UK bank account, will I have to pay UK taxes on that income? I'm quite confused about this and would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

Hi hamzat0323,
This would be seen as self employment in the country that you return to and is not actually UK earnings.
It is just being paid into a UK bank account. you would not declare it here.
Thank you.
