If both my husband and I jointly gave our daughter a gift of say £100k in 2022 but then one of us died before the 7 years is up in 2029, how is the gift treated ? Would the whole £100k amount be covered by the 7 year rule so long as one of us survived the 7 years from the gift since the estate from the deceased spouse will pass to the surviving spouse without IHT being due at the time of first death ?
