Hi, I applied for marriage allowance retrospectively for the last 3 years. I think I done this about 4 weeks ago. My tax code and my wife’s tax code has changed for this current year which is great but I’m wondering about the previous years. The status on each previous year says the following: Applied for Marriage Allowance retrospectively Do we know roughly how long this takes to be sorted out?

Hi Paul,
If you don't complete a Self Assessment tax return, you should receive P800 tax calculations for the tax year and a cheque covering the years if a refund is due.
If you have not received this please contact our helpline to query this.

Thank you.

Hi, I am under Skilled worker visa and I have no access to public funds. Can my husband who is my dependent earning 10,000 annually, is able to apply for marriage allowance even though we are not allowed to public funds? I am not sure if marriage allowance is considered as a public fund. Thank you!
