I paid an amount of voluntary National Insurance Contributions on the 2nd September and they still don’t seem to be showing against my account. Can you advise when I should expect this and who to contact if there is a problem?

Hi,

Please contact the National Insurance team.

National Insurance: general enquiries

We will then be able to check your account and can allocate your payment if required.

Thank you.

My pension forecast has now been updated but I still think a wait of over a month is unacceptable.

If I have paid two years for 14/15, 15/16 when will they be credited? Is it the date I paid? as I am worried they are still not showing only record!

I paid 3 years voluntary NI contributions on the 4th Jan 23. It is showing on my record but I didn’t receive the higher amount on my pension. When should expect it and will it be backdated. Many thanks

Hi Max S67,

It could take up to 8 weeks for payments to be allocated to your National Insurance contributions record.

Thank you.

Hi Mary McKinnon,

You will need to contact the Department for Work and Pensions to ask why your pension hasn’t increased following your payment of Voluntary National Insurance contributions. Please see their contact details below.

If you are already in receipt of your state pension ring this number - 0800 731 0469
If not, ring this number - 0800 731 0175

Further information can be found on the GOV.UK website, see the following link - Check your State Pension forecast

Thank you.

Like other postings when will I see voluntary NIC’S credited to my account? Having submitted a CF83 (with no response from HRMC) I attempted to make a one off NIC3 payment for the 2020/21 year using the instructions outlined in INS13. However to-date this has not been credited. All attempts to phone HRMC from overseas have proved impossible to resolve this (the line gets disconnected or not answered). Given that the payment went through immediately I’m surprised it takes so long to credit my NIC account. It’s also unsettling not to have any acknowledgment of my payment.

Hi Steve Graham,

We are receiving a higher volume of payments at present, the timescale for payments to show on your NI record is 8 weeks.
If you have made your payment more than 8 weeks ago you may wish to contact us on the NI helpline +44 300 2003500
Or in writing to:
International Caseworker
NIC&EO
PT Operations
HMRC
BX9 1AN
Our banking services will only issue a receipt for a payment when this is requested in writing.
This is because they receive all payments for the department and not just those for National Insurance Contributions.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for clarifying this and your guidance. I’m still within the 8 week window so will exercise some patience and monitor accordingly. I appreciate the contact information you provided.
