Hi All. I moved back to the UK yesterday. I have lived in Canada for 7 years and I am slightly confused on a number of things: 1. How do I tell HMRC I am back in the UK and will be working and only reside in the UK with no ties to Canada? Do I phone them? A form? 2. Do I need to do a Split year for the tax? 3. How do I do this split year? is there a form? Thanks,

Hi olipearce1987,
If you qualify for split year then you only report any foreign income for the UK part of the year:
RDRM12000 - Residence: The SRT: Split year treatment: Contents
If you do not qualify then you will need to report all your foreign income to the UK:
Tax on foreign income
The guidance at;
RDRM12150 - Residence: The SRT: Split year treatment: Case 4: Starting to have a home in the UK only
Will help you work out if split year treatment applies.
You can advise that you have returned by updating your address in your personal tax account:
Personal tax account: sign in or set up
Thank you.
