Hi I have recently called HMRC to update them on savings interest and have been informed that I am owed some money in tax refunds in September 2024 - although it still states that my tax has not yet been calculated on the PAYE website. I have been calling to chase up on this although unfortunately did not manage to get anywhere apart from that I will be contacted. Please can I check how come it is taking this long? I know website says sometime between June and November - just seems we are cutting it quite close now. Please can I clarify where I can check on this? Thanks

I completed my 23-24 self-assessment at the end of May. I was pleased to see that I was due a refund of overpaid tax. Having selected the option to get a refund and filled in my bank account details while completing the self-assessment, I expected to get it back. By September nothing had happened so I Googled and found that there is a form you need to fill in to get a refund. I filled in the form. No response or acknowledgment. I installed the HMRC app which gave me the option to fill in the refund request form again so I did and kept a note of the date. The app still gives me the option of filling in the form to get a refund. There is no record or acknowledgement of the fact that I have already claimed the refund (twice). Do I need to do something else to get my money or are you just behind with refunds?

Hi ,

If you have not received your repayment directly from Self Assessment, or from the forms you have submitted,

there may be something preventing your repayment from being issued.

To allow us to investigate this for you, contact us by webchat or phone via :

 Self Assessment: general enquiries  .

Thank you .

I have contacted you by webchat. Nobody was available. I have now written a letter. If I get no reply to that, I will be making a complaint. If there really is something preventing my repayment from being issued, you have had nearly 6 months to contact me about it but you have not done so.
