Income tax after separation

I am receiving a state pension and also have 2 pensions from previous employment. Through one, I have suddenly received a tax refund. The pension administrator's are very slow to respond to queries. Could this refund be due to my separation from my husband now 6 months ago? I have not informed them or HMRC of separation, just my change of address. There has been no talk of divorce.
