Good morning,
I have recently taken early retirement at 56 but my tax code has been change to D0 on my first payment.
As I do not have any other income is this right?
Will HMRC readjust this themselves?

Hi Mybrotherthecow
The code number applied will be based on an estimate of your income expected to be received up to 05 April 2025.
It may be based on your ex-employer’s cessation details not being received before the notification of your early retirement pension being paid.
You can request changes to your tax code by using the options available through Income Tax: general enquiries including requesting that the correct code be issued to your pension provider.
You can also find out information, along with progress of your form/letter/request and changes to your tax code at:
• your personal tax account
• the official HMRC app
Thank you
