Hello, I'm a Polish and British (naturalisation) citizen. My employer moved me for a project in Poland and since 01/01/2023 I have been employed in Poland. I've got my P45 and I have let HMRC know that I have not been employed in the UK since 01/01/2023 but I have not filed P85 since I wasn't sure for how long will I be staying in Poland. I have not had other income in the UK since the end of 2022. It seems I will be staying in Poland for longer than planned - possibly until mid-2024 - do I need to fill out P85 in this case?

Hi
You should complete the P85 in this case.

Thank you for your answer. I used the P85 form to let HMRC know that I left the UK for a while. I've received an answer that my tax refund request was submitted. I wasn't asking for any refunds as my tax refund has been processed already, my intention was only to let HMRC know about me staying outside of the UK for longer. Im not sure how to clarify that and if I should?

Hi Karolina Musiol,
There is nothing you need to do.
The tax year in which you left the UK was finalised and as a result, tax was overpaid and refunded to you.
Thank you.
