I am having trouble changing my name with HMRC. I got married and changed my name on my passport and driving license, I’m now trying to inform HMRC of my name change. The issue is that I can’t pass any of the identity verifications because my drivers license and passport are now in my married name. I go through the biometric check on the Gov ID check app which takes me back to the HMRC webpage saying it can’t confirm my identity. It also says this may be because my name or address has changed, but that is the updated information I’m trying to give! It is very frustrating. I don’t know whether I was supposed to inform HMRC before changing my name on my ID but I’ve never been informed of that. Can anyone help?
