Good evening, I will be moving abroad in June 2025 - and I'll cease to work for my current UK employee. I regularly fill self assessments every tax year and I use an accountant to do so. I understand that, as I fill a self assessment, I can communicate my change of country via a SA109 (however this has to be filled on paper and not online). I'm yet to fill the 2024/25 self assessment, but given the move abroad will happen in the tax year 2025/26, am I right assuming that for the 2024/25 self assessment there's no need to fill the SA109 section? Also - would I be better off regardless in filling a P85 after I've started working in my new country? Best Regards.

Hi,
No SA109 is required for the 24/25 tax year. As in SA, the completion of the P85 will not generate any repayment as any refund will be dealt with within the 25/26 tax return.
Thank you.
