Hi there. I currently work 19 hours a week part time with a salary of £18,023. I plan to take on a casual job for a year, working one evening a week earning approx £3,800 a year. I just want to understand if : - this will impact tax on my current job (would my tax code change?) and - will I be paying ridiculous amounts of tax on the second casual job so that it’s not even worthwhile? Thanks in advance

Hi PH_1984,

As you are earning over your Personal Tax Allowance (£12,5700) in your main job the full allowance will be used.

For the second job tax will be deducted at 20%  basic rate.

Tax codes

Thank you.
