One partner is from the UK, the other is Spanish. They plan to marry in Valencia and live there. The UK partner is permanently employed by a British company and wants to continue working while residing in Spain. Would they end up paying more taxes in Valencia because Spain’s tax rates are higher than those in the UK? if so, is there a way paying extra taxes can be prevented?

Hi icevillage,
You will pay tax in the country you are resident and if that turns out to be Spain then you are liable at their rates.
Please see:
Tax on your UK income if you live abroad
Thank you.
