PAYE Underpayment Tax

I sent a cheque to clear my PAYE Underpayment Tax for the year 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024. The amount was debited 15th Nov from my account. I was told today it will take up to Jan 6th 2025 for my Tax code to change. Is there any help I can get to ensure this is sorted sooner. I think it is very unfair after getting debited to wait that long for my tax code to change. Please help.
