Hi For my 2022-23 tax return last year I was required to make a "1st payment on account for 2023-24 due 31 January 2024" of roughly half of the tax bill due for the 2022-23 tax year arising from property income. When completing my 2023-24 tax year, there appears to be no allowance for the tax I've paid in advance. Please can you advise where on my self assessment form (online) that I can enter the tax I have pre-paid in advance? Thanks

Hi,
Your 2023 to 2024 calculation will show the total amount of tax due on your Self Assessment income.
Once you go beyond this calculation, and fully submit your Self Assessment return, any Payments on Account already made will be subtracted from this total.
You will then be asked to pay whatever tax remains due, or be able to claim any overpaid Payments on Account.
Thank you.
