Hello - we have just used the claims for to receive relief for personal pension contributions (https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/submissions/new-form/claim-personal-pension-tax-relief/)... We have declared the net contribution that equates to a 20% tax relief of £4,862.50. However, because the net contribution is equal to the amount earned over £100,000, my understanding is that there should be further relief due to the impact on the tax free personal allowance for employment income. The form, however, did not ask for a figure for total taxable income for the year. So my question is whether they will be able to calculate the correct relief, based on the total taxable income? Thank you

Not HMRC...a pension releif claim is to claim the additional reifef only (by extending the basic rate band in the calculation by the gross)...pension relief claims in isolcation dont, i beleive, account for changes in liable income as such, yes there would be a further impact but that would only be evident in HMRC issuing a revised calculation for the year to include increased personal allowance...contact HMRC.

Hi M,
It should be able to do this, as this total taxable income should be present on the record to which the claim applies.
Thank you.
