Hello, I sent my request for the U1 form and now the status shows as completed but both in the app and on the website there is no link where I can see the pdf form. Am I supposed to receive it via email or is there any other place I can download it ? Thanks Maura

Good afternoon, I applied for U1 form online on 08 November. The status of the request says “Completed”. According to the email, I should receive a response within 15 days but I didn't have any reply. Could you please tell me how long does it take to get ready and how will I receive it, if by email or by post? Thank you very much.

Hello, I was waiting for the U1 but instead of it I just received a letter asking for more information as my NIN and period of employment (these things I already filled up when I apllied to the form) and a letter of my former employer ( but they are no longer in uk so I am afraid I wont be able to provide it). Please, is there any way to contact you and send it by email instead of waiting another month sending letters by post? Thank you for your cooperation

Hi, I have received the U1 however my self empoyment is listed as not insured employment. Why is it listed as not insured when NI was paid every year? Thanks,

Hi Maura Masi,

If your U1 form has been processed, we issue all replies by postal methods as they are official certificates. Delivery can take 4 to 6 weeks to be received overseas and 1 to 3 weeks if it is to a UK address.

The international caseworker department can advise you of the correspondence issue date and any issues going forward regarding the U1.

Thank you.

Hi Dms,

If you have submitted a U1 form digitally through a personal tax account, the timescales to work the item and then issue a postal reply are currently at 1 week. All U1 forms are issued via postal methods. A U1 reply issued to a UK address once it has been worked can take 15 working days to be received, overseas addresses can potentially take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive due to international post.

If you still have access to your personal tax account, you can chat to an advisor on the web chat services or call the international caseworker helpline for any updates.

Number - 0300 200 3500
Overseas - +44 19 1203 7010
Fax - 0845 915 7800
Overseas Fax - +44 19 1225 7800
Open - Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm - Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately you are unable to email HMRC regarding your reply. You will need to respond in writing to the address on the letter, alternatively if you have access to your personal tax account you can chat to an advisor on the web chat services or call the international caseworker helpline for any updates.

Please be advised if you call the helpline/web chat services they are unable to take details over the phone when evidence is required to support an application.

You can also re-apply for another U1 with the required documentation needed. Current waiting times for electronic receipts are 1 week to a reply being issued by a personal tax account and 41 weeks for postal receipts to be worked at present.

Thank you.

Hi dfmaris98 Dan Posteuca,
If you requested the U1 via online, then it should now be processed and on it’s way to you.
If you do not receive it within the next couple of weeks then please call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas) and they will arrange for a copy to be sent to you.
If you requested the U1 via post, then it may take about 44 weeks from the date that we received your request for our International Team to process it.  They are currently dealing with queries received in February 2023 at the moment.
Thank you.

Hello, I moved to the Czech Republic in October 2023 and filled in a Statement of National Insurance contributions form on the 14th of December as I need to prove in Czech that I paid taxes in the U.K. for the last 15 years. I still haven’t received any response from HMRC. Also would like to ask if U1 form is a different form to the form I completed above. I don’t plan to claim benefits in Czech but I am not covered by Czech health care system at the moment. Thank you

Hi, I've applied on the 11 of December for my U1. However, I have not received it. It says that it's completed but haven't heard anything. I really need this document as soon as possible. [admin removed ref]. Thank you for your time.

Hello, good afternoon, on april 25, 2023 I processed the CA3916 (U1) document online, in the Gov.uk application it appears as completed many months ago but as of today I have not yet received it since my data is correct, How can such a delay be possible? It is incredible. [admin removed personal details] Thanks in advance

Hi Armantas,
If you applied for your U1 online then you should receive it shortly.
If you don’t receive it within the next few days then please call the National Insurance Helpline and they will be able to send you a copy.
Their telephone number is 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas).
If you applied for your U1 by post, then our International Team are currently dealing with queries received on 28 February 2023 so there will be about a 44 week delay in receiving your request to the U1 being issued.
Thank you.

Hi Renata Williams,
The timescale for your application for a statement of National Insurance contributions is currently 46 weeks if you sent your application by post (postal applications received on 1 March 2023 are currently being processed).
If you submitted your application online, the current timescale is 1 week (online applications received on 17 January are currently being processed).
The application form (CA3916) that you have completed is used to apply for a statement of National insurance contributions, or a U1 certificate.
The U1 certificate is different to a statement and you would only apply for a U1 certificate if you were planning on claiming unemployment benefit abroad.
There is a question on the application form that asks if you are applying for a statement of National Insurance contributions to claim unemployment benefit abroad.
If you have ticked ‘no’ to this question, a statement will be issued rather than a U1 certificate.
Thank you.
