Hi Lev Kundi,
I am sorry to hear that you have not been issued with the correct form.
The quickest way to resolve this would be to make another online application, making sure that you tick all boxes relating to the U1.
Also, if you are asked if you are applying for a statement of National Insurance contributions to claim unemployment benefit abroad, please tick 'YES' to that question too. Alternatively, you can contact our helpline on 0300 200 3500 (+44 19 1203 7010 if calling from abroad) to advise that you have been issued with a statement instead of a U1 certificate.
Lines are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
Thank you.

Good afternoon, I applied for a U1 form and a record of my NI contributions on July, 7 - reference Z37-A86Q-DX6. My request appears as "Completed" on my gov.uk account. Unfortunately, I have realised yesterday that I provided an incorrect Postcode for my current address in France. Is there a chance that you would be able to let me know whether or not those documents have already been sent to me and when ? If they have been sent some time ago, it is likely that they've been lost due to the incorrect address. What is the quickest way to overcome this problem? Shall I put an another application forward? Many thanks for your help, Kind Regards,

Good afternoon, I applied for U1 form online on 30st July. Last week I saw that the request is “Completed”. Does it mean that the form is already sent? How long would it take since is “completed” and sent? Many thanks.

Hi,

The completed Status means that we have processed your application. U1 Certificates are issued by post to the address you supplied on form. If you do not receive the certificate, or request for further information, after approximately 3 weeks from applying, you can contact our National Insurance team for non-UK residents.

National Insurance: non-UK residents

Thank you.

Hi, At the end of the year (mid december) I'll be leaving UK to move to Finland. In order to apply for the U1 form, should I do it before leaving (early december) or can I apply already/in the next month if I have all the documentation needed? Also, which postal address should I put in the form, the UK one or the Finland one? Thanks,

Hi, I did work starting with 2015 until 2020 in UK, when I returned back in Romania. I need an official letter to confirm the period I have worked in United Kingdom for my employer in Romania. Specifically I need the details regarding each employer and the timeframe worked for each employer. Is there no email to send the my request...? Thank you.

Good morning, I applied for a U1 Certificate. I've just received today the U1 doc at home and the only income details that appear there, are from my very last employment. There's no data at all about my other employments in the last couple of years. I gave the correct documentation for all of them. It also says that the holder is not entitled to unemployment benefits, Why is this happening?

Hi agustrodmar,
The period required for income details on a U1 certificate differs depending on which country requires the certificate (please see the notes in section 4 on the back of your U1 certificate which may explain what period is required for the country you are applying for unemployment benefit).
Without checking your personal records, I am unable to confirm if the details provided on your U1 certificate are correct.
At part 6 of the certificate, where is states that the holder is not entitled to unemployment benefits - this means that you are not in receipt of unemployment benefits in the UK.
It doesn’t mean that you won’t be entitled to unemployment benefits in the country that you are requesting the U1 certificate for. This will be decided by the authorities in that country. Please speak to one of our HMRC advisors if you require a more specific answer to your queries.
You can contact HMRC on 0300 200 3500 (+44 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad) lines are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Thank you.

Hello, I am trying to request the U1 form. I left UK and I am back in Italy where I can apply for benefits. I have a problem with the P 45 where it says that I has finished working on 08/10/23 when this is completely wrong. I took a flight on 05/09/23 and my last day at work was on 03/09/23. I am not able to request the U1 as the P45 says a different date and the employer does not answer me about this matter. Is there any way I can send all proof (such as proof of travel, payments done in another city, a letter from the employer saying my first day and last day of work, etc) that I has finished working on 03/09/23? Also I don't have a lot of time to obtain the U1 form so I would like to do it the quickest way possible. Could anyone help me with this matter? Thank you so much

Hi gisela.poloni,
You can still continue to submit your application for a U1 certificate. If the date of leaving your employment is incorrect on the P45, please obtain a letter from your employer confirming the correct date that you left the employment. If the date is correct (maybe you took leave from 03/09/2023, but your official leaving date was 08/10/2023?) please attach a letter to your U1 application explaining why the date of leaving your employment is after the date you left the UK.
Thank you.
