I have completed my FY22/23 self assessment - relatively straight forward as I have a single source of income and I made a single lump sum pension contribution. My question relates to the latter… I am expecting a Higher Rate relief to be paid to me. On completing the return it told me I owed £2,000 of tax that I can pay back through next years PAYE … but no mention of higher rate pension relief (although I’m confident I completed the form correctly (including the 20% basic relief my lump sum benefitted from)). When will I hear about the higher rate relief?

Hi seaneeey,

When viewing the tax calculation, your Basic Rate band will have increased to give you the additional tax relief.

Thank you.
