Underpaid tax included in PAYE coding

Hi! I’m trying to answer the questions relating to underpaid tax included in PAYE coding notices for my 2021-2022 tax return. First question: does this refer to coding notices from 2021-2022, or 2022-2023? Second question: if it refers to 2021-2022 that’s fine as my notices show no underpaid tax. If it refers to 2022-2023, I’ve received three different coding notices showing different amounts of underpaid tax. Which figure do I take? The one from my latest notice? Thanks! Andy

Hi,

There are three questions, the first one asks about underpaid tax for earlier years in your 2021 to 2022 code.

The second asks if there is underpaid tax for 2021 to 2022 in your 2022 to 2023 code. If you are unsure if the amount in your 2022 to 2023 code is from 2021 to 2022 please contact our Income Tax team.

The third question asks about outstanding debt in your 2021 to 2022 code.
