Self assessment payment

I keep getting chase emails from HMRC to pay outstanding tax from 21/22 by 31/1/23. When I rang HMRC the adviser told me the tax would be collected via my tax code from April. I have no proof of this as it was a phone call

When we view your record we will be able to see if the amount is due to be put into your code next year.

Hi Thanks for reply. With respect, I don’t understand why you haven’t checked it already and therefore discontinued with the chase letters for payment. I do not feel comfortable owing HMRC money and would appreciate confirmation that the owed amount will be collected via my code for next year Regards Joe Sharp
