Can you please confirm how long it takes for HMRC to send a tax bill, after I have submitted a tax return on paper. Thank you.

Not HMRC...if you have submitted 24/25 and you owe tax by 31/1/26 HMRC will not send a statement until November/December 25. If its an earlier year then whenever the return is processed...however, if for an earlier year then you should make payment now and not wait to mitigate interest, if for 24/25 you can still pay now, but its not due until 31/1/26

Clive thank you. It is only for 24/25 and I have not submitted it yet. My only concern is having a bill/statement so that I can go to the bank and pay it and finish the process. I acknowledge what you say about not receiving it until November/December 25, which might be cutting it a little fine given that I have to pay it by 31/1/26 ? Is it an option to ring HMRC at some point and just get them to confirm over the phone the amount of tax owed, and their bank account and branch sorting codes, and for me to just go to the bank with that ?

...they issue all statements around that time (even where returns not submitted yet if there has been a "movement" on SA of more than £100 since the last statement...and if they show 0.00...its the way its dealt with (though HMRC are on a mission to stop paper statements and actually made the move not to send them out in Covid year, but the Covid happened so that reversed it)...yes you can do that, if you wish, though the banking details etc are already online on HMRC pages and your reference will be your UTR, so its only the the amount you would be confirming...

Thanks again Clive, I will settle for doing that, should that become necessary.
