Hi, is it possible to claim tax relief for interest paid on a student repayment loan received from an EU country? I've lived and worked in the UK for over 10 years, but I repaid interest on my student loan in 2014, 2015, 2020 and 2021 to the government financial institution; Education Executive Agency or 'Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs', which is the equivalent to a Student Loan Company in the UK. Would I be able to claim the interest paid on my student loan in the Netherlands from HMRC?

Hi,

No. Repayments of student loans are not deductible expenses for tax purposes.

Thank you.
