Hi I was in the UK for more than 140 days in 2021-2022. During this time I was working remotely in the UK for a foreign company (2 hours a day), and the salary was credited to my foreign account. For determining my UK residency status will this be considered a work tie.

Hi Ron,

You will have a work tie for a tax year if you do more than 3 hours of work a day in the UK for at least 40 days in that year. It does not matter whether the days are continuous or intermittent.

However, there are special rules for what counts as 3 hours work for individuals who have a relevant job - for more information refer to:

RDRM11800 - Residence: The SRT: Days spent in the UK: Workers with relevant jobs and the UK work tie .

Thank you.
