Hi. Story I guess of many. Due to Corona my tax return was filed late and due to incapacity at time I lodged an appeal via online service on May 5th. A decision was to be made to my appeal in 30 days. Nothing back! I have now waited 30 WORKING days since May 5th and still none the wiser. Can anyone save me the time and spot the irony without me having to continue?? What do I do? Assume? There seems no way to chase appeal even though I do still have the reference number??

If you contact our Self Assessment department they will be able to confirm it has been received and
an estimated date for when you can expect to receive a reply.

See link:

Self Assessment: general enquiries .

Thank you.

Yes. I have done this. You can expect a reply by 26th May 2022. The confirmation email however said HMRC would reply within 30 days. They are late with their reply. Can I impose a late penalty on them?
